Invited to create a poster to sell for charity at Leeds Print Festival 2012, we wrote and designed Nolliz. Posing the question if something looks nice does it have to mean anything, Nolliz conjures up a fantasy festival full of made-up speakers, companies and artists, without being explicit that everything featured is fake.

Tasked with creating a new student accommodation brand, we gave The Student Housing Company its upfront name, fresh identity and personable tone-of-voice. We're currently rolling the brand out across digital marketing, advertising and the halls of residence springing up across the UK. This work won a Gold at the European-wide 2012 Transform Awards.

Based on a best-selling book, it's a teenage knifecrime parable shot on greenscreen to conjure something that's going to be VERY different. One of Europe's top leadership coaches, Peter Bluckert works with country presidents, football clubs and senior management teams of multi-nationals, and came to us for a brand identity and suite of materials that would reflect the calibre of his clients. Our work uses a concentric cirlce motif to symbolise change, journeys and psychological layers. This motif appears across stationery, brochures and a website, and is shown through both illustration and stunning light photography.

One of the best kept secrets in Yorkshire, the stunning, handcrafted furniture and soft furnishings from this small family firm takes pride of place in many of the finest homes across the Dales. After 20 years of bespoke wonderfulness it was time to grow, so Dalesbred and the Design Council's Designing Demand programme commissioned us to rebrand, reimagine and let the secret out.

Our client wanted to do two things: engage decision makers across the country with the Graduate Entrepreneurship Project, and excite students across 11 universities about setting up their own business. We wrote and made two complimentary books; one delivering the project's aims and stats through a beautiful piece of print, the other a little more lo-fi encouraging people to start an enterprise through punchy copy and illustrations.

Wow!Grass! is an amazing product - lush, strokeable and evocative real grass grown in felt so it can be used anywhere. It has covered the Dorchester Ballroom, Trafalgar Square and added loveliness to many other corporate and PR events. We gave the product its name, identity, quirky tone-of-voice and eye-catching pieces of direct mail, all designed to appeal to a discerning audience of PR and event organisers.

Julie Lodrick, Principal of The Mount, says “We commissioned a brand refresh, prospectus and new website. What we got went much deeper than that. The thinking behind the re-imagining of our logo, introduction of taglines and development of some highly unusual marketing concepts was entirely unexpected. We thought we would get cosmetic design changes, instead we got a powerful brand direction. One that has contributed to our School’s direction and continuing success.”

A project for Welcome To Yorkshire, Wakefield Council and major galleries in West Yorkshire, (The Hepworth, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Leeds Art Gallery), our brief was to create advertising that united the region's sculpture offer. The result balanced contemporary design with mass-market appeal.

Superhot art gallery According To McGee came to us as plain old 'ArtSpace'. With an identity that felt more community centre than gallery we ripped it up and started again. The name is homage to the gallery's outspoken owner and the brand now rocks. Visitor numbers are up and the fine Jackdaw magazine has noticed them.

The Good News is that you only need 30 minutes of physical activity a day to be happier and healthier. Our year and a half challenge was to get this message across one UK city in order to boost fitness levels. Giant letters, ambient messages, posters, postcards and social media have resulted in everything from more dance class sign ups to links with Canada.

A project to create a European-wide business toolkit explaining the rise of the ‘experience economy’ for CIDA resulted in a fresh, culturally-accessible visual style that explained a difficult concept in a simple, fun way.
